FAQs

How are these different from the propane refrigerators?

Kodiak Solar Refrigerators run on electricity (12V or 24V DC), not propane gas. They use a highly efficient DC compressor, similar to a standard home fridge but designed to run directly off your battery bank. This makes them safer for indoor use (no open flame/venting required) and ideal for solar setups where you have excess electricity during the day.

How much battery power do I need to run one?

These units are incredibly efficient. For most 6–10 cu. ft. models, we recommend a battery bank of at least 200Ah (Lead Acid) or 100Ah (Lithium) to survive cloudy days. You will typically need about 200W–400W of solar panels to keep the system charged.

Note: Check the specific "Energy Consumption" spec on each product page to size your system correctly.

Can I plug this into a standard wall outlet?

No, these are native DC appliances designed to be hardwired directly to your 12V or 24V battery system. This eliminates the energy loss from using an inverter. If you want to use them with standard grid power (110V), you would need a separate AC-to-DC converter (sold separately).

Do these stoves require electricity to light?

No. All Kodiak propane ranges in this collection feature Battery Spark Ignition. They use a standard 9V or AA battery (located near the kick plate) to spark the burners and the oven. This means you can cook comfortably even during a total power outage.

Do you offer technical support for installation?

Absolutely. If you aren't sure how to wire your DC fridge or set up your range, you can call our U.S.-based support team at 800-771-7702. We specialize in off-grid systems and can walk you through the process.
