FAQs

Do I need an electrician to install a solar power kit?

Not always. Smaller portable kits are plug-and-play, so you can set them up yourself. For bigger systems with a large inverter or battery bank, we recommend having a licensed electrician make the final hookup to your breaker panel so everything meets local building codes.

How do I know which parts will work together?

If you buy one of our pre-configured kits, the components are already matched for you. If you're buying parts separately, check the voltage and amperage ratings; for example, make sure your charge controller can handle the total open-circuit voltage of your solar panel string. Call us at 800-771-7702 and we'll verify your setup before you order.

Will these solar panels work with my existing battery bank?

Most likely, yes. Our panels use standard MC4 connectors and can charge 12V, 24V, or 48V battery banks, including lead-acid, AGM, and lithium, as long as you have a compatible charge controller (MPPT or PWM) between the panels and the batteries.

How long do solar panels and batteries last?

Solar panels are long-lived, and most come with a performance warranty in the 25-year range. Batteries vary more by type: lithium batteries generally last longer than lead-acid, both in daily use and in total years, so check the warranty on the specific battery in your kit.

Can I expand my solar system later?

Usually, yes. Many kits can be extended by adding more panels or batteries, but you want to plan for it. Make sure your charge controller and inverter have the capacity to handle the extra equipment before you buy, or buy a kit with expansion in mind.
